the Bavarian Camels

Mark Gibson

Gibbo is Mr. German! He was born there, loves sausage and spends every waking minute wishing he was actually German. Our high note specialist, you will mostly find him doing horse impressions as he tries to get blood back into his lips after screeching pop melodies over the top of fat brass sounds. He also shamelessly refuses to embrace social media or modern technology, craving the days when you left the house armed with 10p for a phone call which he inevitably spent on sweets so had to reverse the charges anyway. Please do not approach this man regarding our Instagram or Facebook exposure, you’ve been warned!

Kat Curlett

Kat is our resident off-beat specialist and loves nothing more than chugging away in the shadows. She brings with her a wealth of Bavarian experience and more importantly owns her own dirndl.

Kat’s favourite pastime is collecting trumpet mouthpieces and boring everyone to death about their dimensions and uses. In contrast to our ego driven lead trumpet, Kat is more than happy doing the hard graft to make him sound better than he actually is!

Rach Neil

We have a Kat so we needed a dog to balance the group. In lieu of a dog, we found Rachel, the band’s Dog Horn specialist. She hails from North of the wall and provides the meat to our harmonies.

Also in possession of her own dirndl, Rachel comes with her own translator so band members and the general public can keep up with her witty Scottish bants!

Andrew McCoy

Andrew is the beating heart of the Camels. Every band needs a fearless leader who is organised and capable of undertaking the serious work involved in running the show; It’s slightly strange that this happens to be the youngest member even though his wrinkles and grey hair tell a different story. Andrew has managed to land himself a gig in a band where he wasn’t even alive when most of our tunes aired, something he honestly never gets heckled for! Andrew has a passion for cycling and cats but not at the same time…that would be weird!

Dave Holland

Dave got lost on his way to a boring brunch gig and stumbled into a room full of brass players. That was all it took to make him realise he was always destined to be a tuba player in a Bavarian Brass Band.

Dave is honoured to be allowed to socialise with the rest of the ensemble and brings an air of class to proceedings. Tall, suave, debonair and in great shape, Dave is rapidly pushing his luck with the lesser mortal males in the Bavarian Camels.

Ron Vint

Ron is the Groovemeister General of the band, keeping us on the straight and narrow as we navigate the complex world of Oompop. He is the oldest member of the band, which we are absolutely not allowed to talk about, but he has the youngest mindset of us all - especially Andrew!

Fixated by tempo, you will most likely see Ron getting stressed before all our pieces trying to establish the exact speed required to bring each piece to life. Hailing from Liverpool and an avid Reds fan, he thankfully doesn’t posses an irritating accent!
